Fifty-Plus Years of Pioneering Oregon Wine Required Planting New Digital Roots Online

Ponzi vineyards timeline

Ponzi Vineyards has lived a story most brands only dream of. They were one of the original handful of wineries established in Oregon's history, made the first commercial Pinot Gris in the U.S. and championed the Laurelwood District to becoming America first AVA defined by it's geology. Now Ponzi needed an online experience as amazing as their tasting room, on a modern platform that reduced their fee structure.

Ponzi arrived with the hardest part already done: they knew exactly who they were. Their brand work became the brief. Together, we set two priorities. First, move every customer and club member to Shopify Plus without disrupting the season. Second, design a site that sells wine the way Ponzi pours it, leading with place.

The storefront leads with Laurelwood, the geology behind every bottle, and lets customers shop the portfolio the way they drink it. A shared design system carries Ponzi’s brand filter (Intentional, Uncompromising, Spirited) across every series. Whether someone is browsing from home or sitting in the tasting room overlooking Avellana Vineyard, it’s the same Ponzi.

The Results

The new site went live in August 2026, right alongside the 2024 vintage release. Every customer and club member moved over from Commerce7 without a hitch, and not a single shipment was missed. Every order now skips the fee the old platform took.

The homepage pulls live weather from the vineyard, so whether it’s fog, rain, or sun at Laurelwood, visitors see it as it is right now. Ponzi’s wines start with place, and now the website does too.
